Wealth Building

What are the rules for wealth building and amassing money in this country? What is generational wealth? What is the racial wealth gap? The answer to these questions and more will be covered in this course on wealth building. In this course you will acquire the financial knowledge needed to produce wealth - wealth for self, wealth in your community, and wealth for future generations. You will also analyze and track business opportunities, stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and other investments. You will participate in an investment club in which you and other students will receive $100 to invest in various stocks and bonds as you lean to develop your own wealth building strategies.

Course Description

This applied math class is designed to provide students with the fundamentals of personal finance, budgeting, and investments. Students will learn how to develop spreadsheets for budget tracking, investment analysis, planning, and debt resolution. Students will participate in an investment club in which they to learn the skill of stock investing, selecting one or more stocks to buy, hold or sell to develop a personal understanding of wealth building strategies.

Students who take/complete this course

  • Earn a quarter credit in Business/CTE Credit
  • Receive $100 to invests in various stocks and bonds
  • Receive a personal library of  ‘how to” financial books
  • Receive a YCCS Certificate of Completion
