Artivizm Competition


YCCS has talent! We are conducting a star search for up-and-coming artists, filmmakers, activists, or poets! All YCCS students are eligible to enter the next YCCS Network Artivizm Competition for a chance to earn the title of the YCCS Artivizm Champion! The 1st Place Champion will win $1,000, 2nd place – $500, and 3rd – $250! The top-3 entries will showcase their art at the Artivizm Competition Finale!


This activity can be linked to classroom assignments, extracurricular activities,  final projects, and service-learning!  Principals, Academic Advisors, Teachers & Enthusiasts (Art, Film, Poetry, Spoken Word, Social Justice, Photography, etc.) should identify students to participate in the challenge and scheduled Huddles! 

What is Artivizm?

Spelled “Artivism”, it is a portmanteau word combining “art” and “activist”. Artivists push political agendas by raising social justice awareness, using mediums like film, music, culture jamming, subvertising, street art, spoken word, protesting & activism.



  • November 1-19 – (Email Flyers & Info To Principals, PowerAlerts To Parents & Students, Teachers & Advisors, Advisor Cop Presentations, Campus Promotional Tours)
  • Nov 16, Nov 30, Dec 07, Dec 14 & Jan 04 @ 2:30 pm – Weekly Huddles (Zoom) to promote engagement with coaching and  tips for enhancing submissions and incentives for participants


How to Enter!

  1. Tuesday,  January 4 – Sign-up by completing the Contest Entry Form and submit a JPG file to
  2. Label the submission with the following information:  Your Name, School Name, Poster/Entry Title

Wk 2Mon, Jan 10 – Due Date For Artivizm Competition Submissions (Complete Entry Form & Upload Files)

            Tue, Jan 11  – YCCS Artivizm Competition Contestants Reveal (Zoom Meeting:  Popular Vote Begins for Top 5)

Wk 3:  Tue, Jan 18 – 1st Round Voting Ends @ 12 pm (Zoom Meeting:  Top 5 Artivizm Contestants Revealed

Wk 4Tue, Jan 25 – YCCS Artivizm Competition Finale Virtual Performance on TikTok Live (Live Celebrity Judges)!

How will submissions be judged?

  • YCCS campus & community popular votes – Top 5
  • A panel of 3 Celebrity Judges – Top 3
  • Submissions should speak to community issues, social justice, equality, and equity (See Rubric.)

What will you win?!
